Four persons have been killed following an attack by suspected herders on the Agojeju-Odo community in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State. A member of the Kogi State House of Assembly Umar Yahaya confirmed the killing on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, while briefing reporters after submitting a report on the attack to the Kogi State Governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo. The lawmaker, who represents Omala constituency in the assembly, claimed that over 100 gunmen invaded the community to launch the attack on January 30, 2024, at about 3:30 pm. He said the gunmen entered the community via the eastern part of the town that bothers Nasarawa and Benue states and shot sporadically. However, the lawmaker appealed to the state government to prevail on the Commissioner of Police in Kogi, Benthrand Onuoha, and other heads of security agencies to deploy their personnel to the affected areas to maintain law and order.
